Northwest Washington Fair Centennial video

With the Northwest Washington Fair kicking off its 100-year anniversary this week, we thought it’d be a good time to direct folks to the Fair’s centennial anniversary video, shot by Whatcom County’s very own Emmy-nominated cinematographer Chris Baron.

The Fair was fortunate enough to have Chris shoot this 15-minute piece, which follows the lives of three different local individuals leading up the the Fair. You may have seen Chris’ work on the A&E series, “Intervention,” as well as the recent independent film, “Food INC.”

Baron & Co work brings home web, print ad awards for Larson Gross

Doing great work for clients is rewarding in and of itself. Doing great work that gets the client recognition is even better.

Larson Gross‘ Marketing Manager, Wendy Eickmeyer, submitted some of the work we designed for the local accounting firm to the Association for Accounting Marketing (AAM) earlier this year, and the winners were announced in July. Everyone at Larson Gross was excited to see their work bring home awards in both the Website Design and Series Print categories (under $15 million revenue division)…and so were we.

AAM has been putting together an annual awards competition for the past 16 years, recognizing accounting firms across the US and into Canada for their marketing efforts in 20 categories: Logo Design, Website Design and Series Print, among other categories.

Here’s a look at the winning print ad campaign we developed for Larson Gross:

In working with Larson Gross, what we came away with is that the group makes a conscious effort to helping businesses by knowing the individuals behind them, and by knowing them well. It’s that kind of personal engagement that we aimed to communicate with these print ads.

New Work: Introducing Padden Trails

We just wrapped up and delivered a new website for a local development project underway here in Bellingham. The client is Pacific Crest Partners, and the project is Padden Trails: the future home of more than 200 residential lots overlooking Bellingham and the San Juan Islands.

The goal for this project was to deliver a clean design with a super simple to use interface that relied on high-quality photography to show (rather than tell) just what makes this such an inviting area.

New work: Helping the Northwest Washington Fair celebrate its 100th B-Day

It’s hard to believe, but August is right around the corner. Which means one thing… That’s right, it’s almost county fair season.

We’ve been working with the Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden for a number of years now. On Fair posters, newspaper ads, billboards, TV ads and more. The Fair is a story we always enjoy telling. And this year is no exception… If you haven’t heard already, it’s the Fair’s 100-year anniversary.

About four years ago, the Fair management approached us to develop a campaign to help build up to this big event. What we came up with was the “97 (98,99…) Reasons to Love the Fair” theme that celebrated all the different things about the Fair people love. The cotton candy, the rides, Ben the Giant Bull and the like. If you live in Whatcom County, you’ve likely seen this work around during the past few summers. You might’ve even wondered what 97, 98 or 99 had to do with anything. Well, now you know.

As part of the Fair’s 100-year anniversary theme, the folks at the Northwest Washington Fair invited community members to send in photos of their favorite memories from the Fair. These photos would then be used to help celebrate the big 100-year celebration, and the materials we developed for the Fair (from posters and billboards to ads and signage).

Last year’s poster (above) had a bit of an unveil for this year’s centennial poster, with photos from different eras peeking out from behind.

We developed a handful of other pieces to commemorate the Fair’s 100-year anniversary this year, including a new centennial logo (see above), print ads…

, and banners that would be on display around the community leading up to the Fair.

This year’s Fair should be a blast, with lots of special activities planned (like birthday cake and laser light shows), as well as all of those classics we look forward to each year. The Moowich countdown is on!

Whidbey Island Grown story on KING 5 News

(Like our last post, this one is long overdue…Here’s to playing catch up.)

Back in May, KING 5 News talked with the folks at Whidbey Island Grown about their efforts to put local beef on local grocery store shelves. The group is made up of more than just beef ranchers, though. Fruit and vegetable farmers on the island are also getting involved in this local food movement (check out the Profiles page on the new website we developed for Whidbey Island Grown to see all the members).

Also mentioned in this story is Baron & Company client Northwest Agriculture Business Center, who introduced us to the Whidbey Island Grown group back in 2009.

Apologies for not posting any news here for a long, long time, but we’ve had our hands full.

On top of launching a new website for ourselves, we’ve been shooting a bunch of new TV ads, designing new logos, rolling out brands across print ads and marketing materials, crafting and launching new websites… Some for existing clients, and some for new clients we’re excited to bring on board.

Best of the 2000s: Brand, Product, Commercials & more

With 2009 all but wrapped up, it’s about time to celebrate not just the end of another year, but the end of a decade.

Adweek took the opportunity to celebrate the best work of the 2000s, with categories ranging from Brand of the Decade and Product of the Decade to Campaign of the Decade and Commercial of the Decade (in both Super Bowl and Non-Super Bowl categories), as well as many more.

Countless hours were spent compiling videos and photos all so that you can enjoy the best work of the past decade, here.
